Robert Oprea
Founder and Owner, BGS Security
Robert Oprea founded BGS in Europe in 1994 and grew it into a large security organization. He now leads BGS Security’s U.S. operations, serving clients in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut, and stays close to the installation work rather than managing it from a distance.
Building Security on a Foundation of Trust
In 1994, I founded BGS in Europe with just $75 in borrowed capital and a core conviction: when you prioritize protecting people properly, business success follows. That principle guided our growth from a lean startup and the lasting client relationships we built over the years.
My operational philosophy has always been simple: every client, regardless of size, deserves the same care. Whether protecting a single individual or a major enterprise, we deliver the same attention to detail. We take client concerns seriously and work promptly to resolve issues. Perfect security doesn't exist, but continuous improvement is non-negotiable.
Bringing that experience to the U.S. market, my mission remains focused on raising the standard of protection. Before recommending a model, we look at its reliability, the manufacturer’s support, and how it fits the property and the way the household or business uses it. We remain brand-agnostic and select reliable equipment based on the needs of each property.
