Once a line of factories, the shoreline has been rebuilt since the 1990s as condo towers, rentals and gated townhome complexes, with Edgewater Commons, Mitsuwa and the ferry landing strung along the river side of the road and older single-family homes climbing the slope behind. That means shared lobbies, garages and riverwalk gates for most residents, and ground-floor units only feet above the water.
