Secaucus occupies an island in the Hackensack Meadowlands, carved into quarters by Route 3 and the Turnpike's eastern spur. One quarter is a traditional commuter town of older homes and 1970s townhouse communities; the rest is warehouses, outlet centers, hotels and data centers.
