Middletown covers nearly 59 square miles from the Navesink River to Raritan Bay, taking in Lincroft, New Monmouth and River Plaza inland, Belford, Leonardo and Port Monmouth on the bayshore, and Navesink and Locust on the river. Housing ranges from 1960s colonials to raised bayfront capes and riverfront estates, so a system has to be designed for the section, not the township.
